Yinformer tells me that it wants to update to .160. When I let it do so, I still end up with .150, and the next execution again wants to update. Luke |

I just noticed that the self updater for YInformer on Windows7 will automatically put the new exe file on the desktop (for me). Not sure what that is all about but it is supposed to extract it to the YInformer default install folder. If this is your case, you may need to cut/paste the Y Informer.exe file to your YInformer program files folder and try it again. It did not do this to me on Vista but does on 7 for some reason. Does it say version 3.5.150 on the actual YInformer face at the bottom? If so, try downloading the actual full install and let me know if it takes OK or if it is still .150. I retried the update, and it failed exactly the same way again. I'll try deleting everything and doing a full install tomorrow. Did we get back one minute intervals in .160? Luke |

I'm running Vista Home Premium SP2, and I have no extra icon on my desktop. YIF says "Y! Updated - NO" where it normally gives the version number. Luke |

The full .160 install worked just fine. BTW, I noticed that in the .150 release, the problem across midnight seemed to disappear. It now seems to set things up so that it begins a scan at about 23 seconds after midnight. However, this change happened at the same time that the minimum scan interval was increased, so it's hard to say if the problem is really fixed. Also, the problem of that starting at noon, the scan interval was used between each element in the list seems to have disappeared. Again, it came when the minimum scan interval was increased, so I'm not positive it's really fixed, although it seems to be. As of now, the two major problems with YInformer are the minimum scan interval (I find it significantly less useful with the five minute minumum), and the false positives. A minor problem that I've noticed is that even when I specify that YInformer should NOT log in automatically at startup, it seems to do so anyway. Thanks for caring! Luke |

Keep an eye on the midnight thing some more if you would and let me know if there are more issues. I will be bringing back the lower intervals, I just do not know when. I am testing it for the 4.0 beta release as of now. As for auto login, try checkmarking it to do it, close YInformer, open it again and deselect it and close it again. Open YInformer again and see if it auto logs in still. Sounds like a setting did not get saved properly for some reason or another. If that does not help, let me know and I will have you go into the registry for some info. |

The midnight issue seems OK, but it's hard to tell for sure with the longer scan intervals. The scan seems to consistently start at 21-23 seconds after midnight. The auto-login is a problem (after doing what you suggested), but I have a Clue. If I tell Yinformer to log in automatically, then I don't even see the login screen. If I tell it NOT to, I see the logon screen for about ten seconds and then it logs in. I have it set to scan automatically once it is logged in. Could that somehow be causing an automatic login when it wants to start the scan process? Luke |

I suspect that your autoscan is the cause yes, since Yinformer probably are designed to go on scanning, since you have told it too, and it fixes the "problem" of not being logged in. But this is just my guess. John is the one who knows how the program works as he is the one writing it :)

I would bet so. Try unchecking the auto scan and close YInformer and relaunch it and lets see what it does. I may need to put in some more calls for it to check those variables before doing anything else. |
